2014 Honda CBR400R - No more rumors or scan pictures, Honda finally unveiled official pictures of its 400 cc machine, the 2014 Honda CBR400R. Joining the sporty CBR range, the new model fills the gap between the CBR250R and the recently unveiled CBR500R.

The new 400 models should come as no surprise after Honda announced in February it would produce a smaller version of the 471cc engine used in the 500 series. Like the larger engine, the new powerplant is a liquid-cooled DOHC parallel Twin engine. The smaller engine has the same 67mm bore as the 500 engine, but at 56.6mm, it has a smaller stroke than the 500 engine’s 66.8mm.

The 2014 Honda CBR400R is powered by a 400 cc twin-cylinder water-cooled engine that delivers 46 hp at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 3.8 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The engine is actually based the CBR500′s 470 cc unit, but with a shorter stroke. The mid-sportsbike has a dry weight of 192 kg.

The CBR400R features a diamond frame, a 15-liter fuel tank, a 41 mm telescopic fork at the front and pro-link monoshock at the rear and wide-section tires (120/70ZR17 front and 160/60ZR17 rear).

The 2014 Honda CBR400R was designed and manufactured for the Japanese market – though it should go on sale in other Asian countries as well. In Japan, the Honda CBR400R will be available in three different color options: red, black and white/red/blue HRC racing. The red and black models without ABS are priced at 669,900 yen, while the HRC livery version with ABS will set you back 750,750 yen.
